A lovely pair of 19th century Davenport Cabinet or Dessert Plates c.1840. In good condition, with no cracks, crazing or restoration. The gilt has very slight wear to the rims, and each plate has one small knife mark to the glaze.
The plates are approximately 24cm in diameter and one plate is fully backstamped with Davenport over an anchor with a decorators mark of 1289. The other plate is unmarked and only carries the decorators marks 772 and 1289. The unmarked plate has a very small chip to the underside. This is probably where the plate stood in the kiln.
